Koronet ER5183 (AlMg4.5Mn) aluminum wire is a high-quality AlMg4.5Mn welding wire, designed for MIG (GMAW) welding of aluminum alloys. The magnesium content of approx. 4.5% and the addition of manganese gives the welds excellent strength, corrosion and impact resistance (i.e. resistance to breaking under sudden load or impact), which makes this wire particularly recommended for marine structures, tanks, semi-trailers and components operating in harsh environmental conditions.
Compared to the popular AlMg5 (ER5356) wire, AlMg4.5Mn provides greater tensile strength and resistance to hot cracking, which translates into durable and aesthetic welds. It is the ideal choice for both professional workshops and those new to working with aluminum, who expect a stable arc, clean melting and repeatable results.
KORONET ER5183 (AlMg4.5Mn) wire is used for welding:
aluminum alloys of the 5000 (Al-Mg) and 6000 (Al-Mg-Si) series,
offshore structures, platforms, yachts, ships,
tanks and chemically resistant structures,
semi-trailers, frames, boxes, covers and supporting structures,
elements requiring high mechanical and anti-corrosion resistance.

✅ High mechanical strength of welds
✅ Very good resistance to marine and chemical corrosion
✅ Increased resistance to hot cracking
✅ Stable arc and even winding
✅ Clean, shiny welds without porosity
Before welding, thoroughly remove oxides and debris from the aluminum surface.
Use pure argon or an Ar/He mixture as a shielding gas.
Avoid overheating the connector – aluminum conducts heat much faster than steel.
It is not recommended to use 5183 wire in components that are continuously operating at > 65 °C, due to the risk of stress corrosion.
