The Koronet SUPREME 900X machine tap is a premium tool designed for precise internal threading in structural steels, alloy steels and materials that require a stable, repeatable cutting process. Made of high-quality high-speed HSSE-PM powder steel and equipped with an AlCrN coating, it provides significantly increased wear resistance and stability compared to standard HSSE TiN or TiCN coated taps.
The tap is made of high-speed HSSE-PM (powder metallurgy) steel, which combines very high impact strength with micro-crack resistance, high torsional strength and cutting edge stability. The powder technology ensures a homogeneous material structure, which translates into a longer tool life even in demanding steels.
The advanced AlCrN-based coating is characterized by:
– very high abrasion resistance,
– thermal stability allowing for work at higher parameters,
– limiting the growth and adhesion of chips,
– significantly longer service life compared to TiN and TiCN coatings.
This allows the tool to work reliably in both structural steels and materials that are more difficult to process.
Straight chip grooves provide linear guidance of the tool and efficient chip output in the opposite direction to rotation, making them ideal for threading through holes. This geometry minimizes the risk of chip jamming and increases process stability.
The tap made in accordance with DIN 376 is characterized by a slimmer design and a longer shank part than DIN 371, which ensures:
– the ability to work in deeper holes,
– more flexible use in a variety of applications,
– confident guidance of the tool while maintaining stability.
The Type B cut ensures easy insertion of the tap into the hole and safe, controlled thread forming along the entire length. It is a universal geometry commonly used in workshop and industrial production.
• unalloyed and structural steels,
• alloyed and heat-treated steels,
• steels with increased strength,
• materials prone to the formation of edge growth.
The tool is recommended for use on CNC machine tools, machining centers, as well as in precision heads of conventional machines – wherever repeatability, stability and high tool life are required.
